It is far easier to analyse and control your stock if it is divided into families. Stock items of a similar type should be put in the same family. Many Herschel users have found that family codes in an AA99 format work well, for example FA03 might be FA – fasteners, 03 – stainless and so on.
Each family is identified by a four character code, and its details are entered into the system using the family details tool. Each family has a 25 character description and a target stockholding value.
The family enquiry option displays all the partnumbers in any family.
